Adrenal Optimization
What Is Adrenal Optimization?
Optimizing the adrenal gland helps fight fatigue and reduces stress.
The adrenal gland produces 3 major hormones:
- Aldosterone: helps maintain salt and water levels in the body and regulates hydration.
- Cortisol: helps regulate the metabolism and is involved in your response to stress
- Androgens: play a role in the development of sex organs in both men and women, especially in early development.
A properly optimized adrenal gland helps you maintain your hydration levels and and a healthy response to stressful situations.
What Can Go Wrong?
An overactive or underactive adrenal gland can be negative for your health.
It has been estimated that 80% of adults will have adrenal problems at some point in their life. This is significant, as the adrenal glands affect your circadian rhythm and sleep patters. Without proper optimization, the adrenal gland can leave you with low energy when you need it, and an abundance of energy when wish you didn’t have it (i.e. you’re trying to sleep).
Symptoms of adrenal fatigue include: lethargy, sleep problems, thyroid problems, lack of motivation, among others.
If your adrenal gland produces an abundance of cortisol over a long period of time, you expose yourself to all kinds of medical conditions, including cancer, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and more. A properly optimized and functioning adrenal gland is a key component of good health.
